Barcelona fans will soon be met with good news, as the club has made significant progress in contract negotiations with Ronald Araujo. According to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti, the center-successful back's contract renewal could be announced next week.

Conversations with the Uruguay international on a new contract have been ongoing for some time, and it appears that Barcelona will finally reap the benefits of their efforts. According to Juanmarti, an agreement on a new arrangement has been reached, and an announcement could be made next week.

Araujo's current contract with the Catalan club was set to end in 2023, and a delay in the announcement of his new contract fueled speculation over his future with the club. Fabrizio Romano, on the other hand, highlighted that the paperwork and fine-tuning elements are taking time.

Barcelona is said to have signed the defender to a contract that runs until 2026 and has a €1 billion release clause. Pedri and Ansu Fati, for example, have similar stipulations in their contracts, indicating that the Catalan club values their young potential and is unwilling to let them go cheaply. The Uruguayan's influence to the team has grown season after season since making his senior debut for the La Liga giants. He made 33 appearances for Barcelona last season in all competitions, and he has already made 38 appearances this season.

Araujo's strength in one-on-one duels, both on the ground and in the air, as well as his calm demeanour under duress, have earned him a reputation for being fiercely competitive.

Ronald Araujo is no longer a member of the Barcelona team. as a result of a minor injury

After suffering their first defeat in La Liga since the turn of the year against Cadiz, Xavi Hernandez's side bounced back against Real Sociedad in midweek. The Catalans were far from dominant in their visit to Reale Arena, but they managed to keep their one-goal lead.

Barcelona benefited from the home team's poor finishing, but the visitors deserve praise for their tenacious performance. Ronald Araujo and Gerard Pique were reassigned to the centre of the defence and remained firm in the face of Sociedad's attack.

The Uruguayan impressed up for his positional understanding as he covered for Dani Alves, who frequently pushed into midfield, leaving the right flank exposed. Arajuo, on the other hand, was substituted at the 55th minute due to discomfort and could miss up to two weeks of play.

The 23-year-old is regarded as one of Europe's top young defenders, but he has been sidelined due to injuries on several occasions. Barcelona will be hoping that his injuries do not become a recurring trend during his time at the club.
