Ernest Chemists Limited (ECL) has contributed drugs to the Awutu Senya East Municipal Health Directorate in honour of World Malaria Day 2022, which falls on April 25th, 2022. Several doses of anti-malarial medicine for adults and children, as well as painkillers, haematinics, and multivitamins, were donated to aid the municipality in the treatment of Malaria and its repercussions, as well as to reduce the burden of Malaria in the region.
World Malaria Day 2022 was commemorated by the World Health Organization (WHO), with the theme "Harness innovation to lower the malaria disease burden and save lives." WHO has designated Sub-Saharan Africa as a high-burden region, urging investments and innovation to assist deliver innovative vector control tactics, diagnostics, antimalarial drugs, and other tools to the region.
Malar-2, an antimalarial medication suited for both adults and children, was donated by ECL in response to WHO's plea to assist battle Malaria in the subregion.
Mrs. Sharon Anim, Brands Communication Manager, spoke to the Health Directorate on behalf of Ernest Chemists Limited about the company's Corporate Social Responsibility concept of supporting improved healthcare service through quality pharmaceuticals.
The firm is also inspired by a purpose to make high-quality medicine available to everyone, which it continues to exhibit through donating pharmaceuticals and other health goods to a variety of organisations, groups, and communities.
"This contribution is targeted at aiding the municipality in its battle against Malaria owing to the high incidence of the disease in the region, and it is also timely, since the rainy season brings a rise in reported Malaria cases," she explained.
The contribution was also attended by Dr. Promise Sefogah, ECL's medical adviser and consultant. "The Awutu Senya East Municipality was chosen because, according to reports, Malaria remains the leading cause of OPD attendance in the municipal region," he said.
As a result, it is appropriate to assist the municipality in its Malaria-fighting efforts." He also noted the devastation that Malaria does, particularly to pregnant women and children, and how important it is to promote Malaria treatment and prevention.
