Former President John Mahama joins Archbishop Charles Agyinasare in worship at the Perez Chapel in Dzorwulu, Accra, on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
The purpose of the visit was to publicly honour the man of God on his 60th birthday, which he celebrated shortly before being consecrated as Archbishop of the Perez Chapel, previously World Miracle Church International.
NDC National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, a former National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) head; Director of Elections Sylvester Mensah; Ningo Prampram MP Elvis Afriyie Ankrah; and Sam George, who is also a member of Perez Chapel, were among those who attended the ceremony.
Mr Mahama praised Archbishop Agyinasre for his outstanding contribution to national development in his presentation to the church.
"Belated birthday greetings, especially because I was unable to accompany you in celebrating your 60th birthday. Let me begin by saying that I have known the Archbishop for decades... since his days as a young preacher.
"We're both getting on in years. As a politician and former President, I stayed close to the Archbishop and sought his wise advise on several occasions," Mahama said.
"I have no doubt that given the Archbishop's life as a pastor, his excellent contribution to the progress of the church, and to our national development, he will be honoured," the former President remarked.
