Former Chelsea captain John Terry has reacted to the news that Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.John Terry, a former Chelsea and England captain, has expressed his displeasure at Antonio Rudiger's announcement that he will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Germany centre-back, who is perhaps Chelsea's best player this season, is one of a number of high-profile players whose contracts expire at the conclusion of the season. Following the Blues' 1-0 win against London rivals West Ham United on Sunday, which Rudiger missed due to groin and hamstring injuries, Thomas Tuchel stated that the 29-year-old will be playing his football somewhere next season, despite the club's best efforts to keep him.

Terry was enraged by the news, and he expressed his disappointment on Instagram. In response to a Sky Sports story confirming Rudiger's departure from the club,Rudiger will depart Chelsea after a five-year stay with the club, during which he won the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup. In addition, he was picked to the Champions League season squad for the 2020/21 season.

Chelsea's future was cast into doubt in March when the British authorities sanctioned owner Roman Abramovich, significantly limiting the club's financial sources and ability to renew contracts. Tuchel stated that the club's fines prevented Rudiger's contract from being extended when asked about his departure.

"We fought valiantly," Tuchel stated. "On a personal level, I fought hard. We made him large offers, and the club tried everything they could. However, due to the sanctions, we will be unable to battle for a few weeks. We are unable to adapt. We can't go on like this, therefore it is what it is.

"He has my entire support because he has consistently given outstanding performances up to this point." I'm really grateful for the opportunity to coach him and have him on the squad. Because he was the epitome of brilliance."

Rudiger has made 196 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, scoring 12 goals while doing so under four different managers: Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard, and Thomas Tuchel.Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Barcelona have all expressed interest in signing the 29-year-old, with sources claiming that Los Blancos are the frontrunners to get Rudiger on a Bosman transfer this summer.

He isn't the only Chelsea defender linked with a move away, with Danish centre-back Andreas Christensen, who is nearing the end of his contract, expected to join Barcelona this summer.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea's captain, has also been linked with a move to the Camp Nou, which would make him the only player in Chelsea's history to win every available title.
