The Passport Office of Ghana announces shortage of the the 48-page passport booklets as demand for them rises.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs since the extension of how long a Ghanaian passport is valid for from 5 years to 10 years, has had the option of applicants opting for the 48-page booklet with the intention of frequent travelers taking advantage and having the added benefit of limiting how often they have to renew their passports.
However, it comes as a blow to applicants as the Passport office announced via their portal that they will no longer be able to provide that option and are working on refunding payments made by applicants for the booklet as they are going to receive the 32-page booklets instead.
Interacting with people online, it comes out that the institute had a shortage of the 32-page booklets earlier so they are shocked as to how they now have those in abundance and have ran out of the 48-page booklets.

Accra, 1st April, 2022 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration regrets to inform applicants for the 48-page passport booklets that due to a surge in demand for these booklets and the continuing challenges with the supply chain, the Passport Office until further notice can only issue the now available 32-page booklets to all applicants who have requested for the 48-page booklets.
The applicants who have applied for 48-page booklets do not need to submit another application for 32-page booklets. The conversion will be done at no further cost at such applicants.
In the meantime, the Ministry is taking appropriate steps to ensure that necessary refunds are made to qualified applicants in due course.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration reassures applicants for passports of the continuing commitment of the Passport Office to expeditious service and customer satisfaction. We thank the general public for their understanding, patience and support during this exceptional period.
