Manchester United players are afraid that Erik ten Hag has the necessary charisma to turn the club's fortunes around, according to reports.
After signing a £9 million-a-year contract until June 2025, the Dutchman was announced as United's next manager last week.
He'll start at Old Trafford after leaving Ajax at the conclusion of the season, but the team's recent results indicate that he'll have a huge challenge ahead of him.
While ten Hag's 'coaching credentials' are encouraging to United's players, the Manchester Evening News reports that there is some uncertainty about whether he is a strong enough character to help the club recover from a dismal season.
The Red Devils have lost three of their previous four Premier League games, putting them out of contention for a place in the top four.
Ten Hag's morale is at an all-time low, and he'll have to work hard to restore it before he can begin devising a game plan.
The 52-year-old has a solid reputation as a coach, and his makeover of Ajax has been amazing, but leading one of the world's most prestigious clubs - with all the pressure and expectation that entails - is a whole other task.
Last month, on Sky Sports, Gary Neville expressed similar reservations about ten Hag.
'Look at Pochettino and ten Hag,' he continued. 'Are they charismatic enough to join Manchester United?
'Can they have the personality and character, as well as the strategic planning of how to manage up and down, given the size of the club and the issues that exist there at this time?'
'Impacting up, taking over the planning of the training ground, redeveloping the stadium, all the things you'd expect a great manager to do. Pochettino and ten Hag, I'm not so sure they have it in them.'
According to the Manchester Evening News, Marcus Rashford is 'looking forward' to training under ten Hag.
The 24-year-old has had a rough season and has been linked with a transfer away to Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain in order to keep his career moving forward.
With ten Hag tasked with overhauling the squad this summer, Rashford will be eager to show his worth and reclaim a starting berth.
