At Parc des Princes over the weekend, a section of fans targeted the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner once more.

Mauricio Pochettino thinks it's "unbelievable" that some PSG fans continue to jeer Lionel Messi after his brilliant performance against Lens on Saturday, which helped the club win their 10th Ligue 1 title.

Following his surprise departure from Barcelona last summer, Messi joined PSG on a free transfer and has had a disappointing debut season.

The 34-year-productivity old's in the final third has declined significantly, and he was unable to inspire the squad past the Champions League round of 16, with supporters singling him out for blame alongside Neymar.

During PSG's loss to Real Madrid, both Messi and Neymar were booed, and the former was booed again after his recent appearance against Lens.

With a 1-1 draw against Franck Haise's side, PSG secured the point they needed to reclaim the Ligue 1 title, with Messi scoring the goal with a fantastic long-range strike, but he was still jeered by a section of the home crowd during the post-match celebrations.

Pochettino, the head coach, was perplexed by the reception for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, telling ESPN Argentina: "The boos for Messi? It's unbelievable. Accepting these facts is difficult. A difficult scenario to imagine and, in my opinion, unfathomable.

"This is especially true given Messi's excellence and all he has given and will continue to give to football."

In his final season at Barcelona, Messi scored 38 goals in all competitions, but he has only scored nine goals so far in 2021-22.

Only four of those have come in Ligue 1, with PSG relying on Kylian Mbappe to score the majority of their goals, with the Frenchman scoring 33 in 42 outings.

Messi, on the other hand, has 13 assists, and now that he has added Ligue 1 to his trophy cabinet, he is only four silverware from former Barcelona teammate Dani Alves' all-time record of 43.
