You could be the best footballer in the world, with millions of fans all over the world. That isn't to say that hatred can't exist.
Argentine legend Lionel Andres Messi is one of them.
Many of Messi's opponents have died on the field as a result of his magical abilities.
And it's likely that's what was bothering them.
In this post, we'll look at the five players who dislike Lionel Messi and why they do so.
Burdisso, Nicolas
In 2011, Argentina's locker room erupted in a brawl. Argentina was struggling at the Copa America, and Burdisso encouraged Messi to give it his all.
Later, the tension became so high that Aguero had to physically separate them to put an end to the fight. Burdisso is said to have approached Messi following yet another poor performance for his country.
Burdisso demanded that Messi remove his finger in no uncertain terms. Burdisso did not return to Argentina's lineup following the tournament.
Icardi, Mauro
Argentina's second-best attacker after Leo Messi, Mauro Icardi, was dropped from the national team following a highly publicized affair between him and Maxi Lopez.
Mauro and Maxi had a strong friendship in Genoa, but after a while, Mauro became involved in a romantic relationship with Maxi's wife, Wanda.
Wanda married Mauro despite having a registered marriage and three children, which enraged Leo Messi greatly.
Lionel was Maxi's close friend, and he decided to give his national team bosses an ultimatum: choose him or pick Icardi.
Drenthe, Royston
Drenthe accused Messi of racial slurs after a long period of silence following one of Hercules' battles with Barcelona. The Dutchman claimed he had a brief argument with Messi during a game between Hercules and Barcelona.
The Argentine, who referred to Drenthe as "Negro," allegedly assisted him in the competition.
The Catalan club, on the other hand, backed Leo, noting that the Argentine has always treated his opponents with respect and sportsmanship.
Tello, Cristian
The former Barcelona winger could have a brighter future with the Blaugrana, but it's been reported that a strained relationship with Leo Messi was one of his personal reasons for leaving the club.
Shortly after one of Barcelona's La Liga games, TV specialists decoded Leo's words after an unlucky attacking effort: "'What are you up to?' You're nothing. You've only come to pass the ball to me."
Arbeloa, Alvaro
Bad things happen both on and off the field. According to sources, Lionel approached a Real Madrid player in the parking lot after one of the El Clasicos and called him a "idiot."
Following that, Arbeloa made a series of disparaging remarks about Barcelona and Lionel Messi, wishing that the Argentine "would soon retire" and that the team "would always be defeated."
