UEW Ajumako Campus to Collaborate with Open Foundation West Africa

A delegation from the Open Foundation West Africa has called on the Ag. College Registrar of the College of Languages Education, University of Education, Winneba, Mr. Osei-Bediako Appau to introduce the activities of the Foundation and to form the wiki translation club on the campus.

 

Receiving the delegation, the Ag. College Registrar, Mr. Osei-Bediako Appau expressed excitement at the visit and assured them of the College’s readiness and support for the club once it is established on campus. He added that, such clubs would encourage young academics and students to publish more Ghanaian and African works.

 

The Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator for Open Foundation West Africa, Ms. Ruby Damenshie-Brown took the opportunity to introduce Mr. Sackitey Mathias as the interim President of the Club. She explained that, Mr. Sackitey will spearhead the processes of registering the club on campus and getting more students to join.

 

Ms. Joy Agyepong, Administrative Executive for Open Foundation explained that formation of wiki translation club would help digitize the study of Ghanaian languages at the Ajumako Campus of the UEW. She added that Open Foundation finds the College of Languages Education as a one stop partnership since it specialises in teaching and learning of Ghanaian Languages.’’

 

Dr. Esther Nana Anima Wiafe-Akenten, Head of Department for Akan-Nzema Education on her part expressed optimism that, the wiki translation club would create avenues for students’ to write, digitise and publish more Ghanaian language works.

 

Open Foundation West Africa, is a Not-for-Profit organization which is into open education and education programmes, digitisation of open resources, preservation of cultural and heritage items for educational purposes and promoting contents and languages in the West African Sub-Region.
