Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways, has instructed metropolitan, municipal, and district chief executives (MMDCES) to seize charge of their local assemblies and put an end to unlawful actions such as construction on waterways and areas set aside for roads.
"You are the most important person in the room." Take command and put a stop to these criminal acts, which have far-reaching ramifications for society as a whole. "Resign if you are fearful of guaranteeing that the correct thing is done," he said.
"As a public official, you have authority; use it." I'm not advising you to use authority arbitrarily; instead, be fair and firm, without fear or favor." Mr Amoako-Attah made the remarks while touring highways in the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro area of the Greater Accra Region over the weekend, saying that the country was regulated by rules and that no one should be seen breaking them.
He said it was past time for the assemblies to go on from just labeling structures for not having the proper permits or being located incorrectly to dismantling them to prevent others.
To prevent having their property demolished owing to improper placement, the Minister recommended developers to follow the right procedures for obtaining building licenses.
"Because acquiring land and constructing a building requires so many resources and labor, I encourage developers to adhere to the laydown procedures." "I can tell you that any structure near waterways or on the road will be demolished," he said.
Mr Amoako-Attah praised the youngsters of Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro for their patience and refusal to protest the poor state of their towns' roadways.
He assured that the government will continue to work to enhance the country's roads in order to grow the economy and raise living standards.
"The road-building schedule is on track. The government's dedication to road development has remained through thick and thin, and the good people of Ghana have witnessed it."
Mr. Stephen Joseph Nyarni, the Ga South Municipal Chief Executive, expressed delight that the government was planning to repair the area's deteriorating roadways.
