The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has expressed concern over the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, continuing to debate a section of the 2018 Auditor General's report in the media and subsequent reporting on his comments.

Despite the fact that Parliament as a whole has yet to evaluate the report, the MP has resorted to discussing it and, in some cases, drawing false inferences from it in order to mislead the listening and reading publi

We'd want to make the following points clear:

The Board of Directors inherited the Board's Fees and Allowances regime when they were sworn in in 2017. The provision of allowances to members of the Board was based on this.

Members were given a tax-inclusive amount of GH 1,500 for off-site meetings when it came to the question of Inconvenience Allowance.

Later, the Ministry of Finance approved a new pay system that excluded Board Fees and Inconvenience Allowances. COCOBOD has discontinued paying Board Fees and Inconvenience Allowances in accordance with the new rule.

We will continue to follow the Ministry of Finance's salary guidelines for the Board.
