The Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations (MELR) has launched a seven-member Audit Committee to ensure proper and effective financial management practices in the Ministry.
This is following the provisions of sections 86 and 87 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which requires all government agencies to set up audit committees.

He pointed out that the Audit Committee is an important legal entity with important, advisory and supporting roles.
Mr. Balance said that in recent times, audit committees have focused only on financial recommendations and, therefore, should show interest in performance audits, as well as the extent to which agencies and departments can deliver their mandates. . ,

"The seating allowance we give you is not enough, but please consider it a national service and if you have any special skills, please don't hesitate to use it," he said.

He added that another role of the ministry was to ensure that all public management, including its agencies and departments, comply with financial regulations.
