Ghanaian students who were evacuated from Ukraine say they have regretted returning to the country.
Ghanaian students who were evacuated from Ukraine as a result of the Ukraine-Russian war have regretted returning to the country because government has failed to honor it's promise to them.
They say despite the assurances and promises by government of securing schools for them, nothing has been done by the government to assist them continue their education.
It will be recalled that Ghanaian students resident in Ukraine were evacuated to Ghana as a result of the invasion unleashed on the country by Russian forces.
Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM, the President of the Ukraine chapter of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Phillip Bobbie Ansah, a series of meetings were held with authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consulates of countries and we(students) were assured that schools will be secured for them to complete their education.
"We had a couple of meetings initially after they made us to under that they are very much positive to help us and secure schools for us. They requested data which we gave them.
Everything seems to slow, we don't know what's happening now", NUGS President Ukraine chapter said.
He again said some Ghanaian students refused to come to Ghana which have been proven to be the best decision they made and we made a mistake coming here.
Over thousands of Ghanaian students didn't come to Ghana despite advice and caution given to them. They opted for a stay in boarder countries like Romania, Poland, Hungary and other European countries.
Phillip Bobbie Ansah however added that they have given authorities all names of students and administrators and so called on them to act swiftly.
