Neutrality Grant: CLOGSAG Members Must Resign If They Cannot Be Neutral - Kofi Bentil

IMANI Africa vice-president Kofi Bentil has scrapped plans for the Neutrality Allowance.
According to him, striking members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana, (CLOGSAG), demanding neutrality benefits, should resign if they are unable to maintain their neutrality.
CLOGSAG members have been busy since Thursday, April 21 due to non-payment of their neutrality benefits.
But speaking to the Accra-based Joy News on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, Mr. Bentil stressed that the state does not owe any public service compensation for neutrality.
“The state cannot pay you. No one should pay anyone for political neutrality. That will open the gate to the proverb. Why don't we pay the police for their neutrality, why don't we pay our teachers and other public servants for our neutrality? ” he asked.
Mr. Bentil added that there was nothing to stop a civil servant from getting involved in politics, saying that any civil servant who wanted to take over the party or who wanted to be paid a fair share should "just resign."
“A surgeon cannot go to work drunk. He may like his beer he may like wine but he cannot go to work drunk and he is not paid for not drinking. He can drink on the weekends or if he wants to drink every day he will have to stop being a surgeon. So this neutral thing, even though it is red herring, we need to understand that we do not have to pay people for it. "
“We pay people for things they have legally lost because of the work they do. We don't pay them for things they shouldn't do. So I don't think we should discuss this in detail, but we should not pay anyone a neutral bill. ”
