Togolese-based soccer team, Petrolier FC, has been crowned the Okakadodo Youth Tournament at Akligo Park in the Ketu South Constituency in the Volta region.
They won the title after defeating their Ghanaian counterpart, All Soccer Football Club, 3-0 in the final match of the tournament.
The tournament, organized by the Okakadodo Foundation in partnership with Ketu South MP Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, was part of an effort to improve community football in the region.
Speaking before the start of the final match between the two sides, the Member of Parliament commended the Okakadodo Foundation, which co-organized the tournament, for having such a vision of developing football at the grassroots level of the Ketu South Constituency.
“I am delighted to welcome this event, as we are all trying to rekindle the love of football in Ghana. This is a way to develop grass in the area and we thank the organizers of the tournament, the Okakadodo Foundation. ”
Madam Gomashie urged the participants to take the ball to the grassroots level as it goes a long way to prepare themselves and help the spies find their footballers in the region.
He said there would be more competitions in the region as they looked to make the Keta South Constituency a platform for discovering footballers.
The Member of Parliament supported both parties with undisclosed funds as a reward for their performance.
Former Minister of Youth and Sport Clement Kofi Humado also won the tournament and supported two teams, Petrol FC and All Soccer FC with soccer jerseys.
