A 2-1 away win against PSV earlier this month set up a semi-final meeting with AS Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho.
The Italian giants will pay a visit to the King Power Stadium on Thursday night, with City returning to Rome a week later. The victor of this tie will meet either Marseille or Feyenoord in the competition final on May 25 in Tirana, Albania.
The Video Assistant Referee has not been used in prior rounds of the Europa Conference League, unlike in other UEFA competitions. This is due to change this week, however.Following initial speculation in Italy, UEFA has officially confirmed that VAR will be utilized in both legs of the two semi-finals. It means that the system will be employed in both City's match against Roma and Marseille's match against Feyenoord.
"UEFA has decided to introduce video assistant referees (VAR) for the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League," UEFA said in a statement before of the semi-finals. The VAR system will be used at the final on May 25 in Tirana, Albania, as previously confirmed.
"The use of VAR at earlier stages of the competition next season is presently being evaluated."Originally, the method was only supposed to be utilized for the final in Albania. However, that plan has been moved forward due to the fact that all venues used in the semi-finals can employ the technology without any changes.
