Manchester United has named Erik ten Hag as their next manager, and the Ajax manager brings a strong resume to Old Trafford.
The 52-year-old joined Ajax in December 2017 during a difficult era for the team, which had been sluggish in the league and had missed out on European competition entirely that season. He has, however, turned the tide at the Johan Cruyff Arena, transforming them into one of Europe's most appealing teams.
Ten Hag won the league and cup double twice in two complete seasons, and he was on track for another league triumph in the 2019-20 season but the Covid-19 pandemic derailed his progress.
Let's take a look at Erik ten Hag's managerial record
Ajax has excelled in Europe under Ten Hag, with the zenith of his career coming in 2019, when they reached the Champions League semi-final after beating Real Madrid and Juventus before losing to Tottenham in the last four.
Ten Hag's Ajax has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and the Round of 16 of the Champions League this season, where they were defeated by Benfica.
Since his arrival, Ten Hag has managed Ajax in 209 games, winning 155 and losing only 28. His win percentage is an impressive 74.16 percent.
Ajax's goal-scoring record is particularly excellent, as they have scored 575 goals throughout that time – an average of 2.75 per match – while conceding only 176.
However, that is only his Ajax career.
Prior to that, he had a successful tenure at Utrecht, when he led the team to challenge the big three of Dutch football: Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV.
Prior to that, he worked with Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich II, and this occurred as a result of his prior position at Go Ahead Eagles, when he led the team from the Dutch second division to the top flight.
Ten Hag has managed 431 matches in his career, winning 271 of them for a win rate of 64.27 percent, and his sides have scored 1,005 goals.
