A petrol station manager from Infin Ghana Limited's Kwahu-Tafo branch was sentenced to 120 months in prison by the Mpraeso Circuit Court.

Ernest Boakye was found guilty of stealing GH398,545 from his workplace.

The 30-year-old was given the sentence after the court determined that the prosecution had shown his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

According to the prosecution, the administrator of Infin Ghana Limited observed significant anomalies between Boakye's pay-in-slips and bank accounts in May 2021.

Officers of the corporation reviewed Boakye's sales on June 16, 2021, and discovered that he had misappropriated GHC92,457, prompting his arrest.  The court further said that the offense was perpetrated in 2021, during the peak of the COVID-19 epidemic, when firms were laying off workers and people were in misery.

"The inmate was not laid off by the complaint firm." He retained his employment so that he could support himself and his family. Instead of repaying the favor by working honestly and with integrity, he chose to break the company's confidence and steal such a large quantity of money," said Stephen Kumi, the presiding judge.
