Rashad McCrorey, a black-American tour operator and entrepreneur, has been appointed as Elmina's Tourism Chief.

McCrorey bears the stool name "Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I" as the Tourism Chief (Nserahwehen) of Iture, a suburb of Elmina.

Mr. McCrorey has resided in Ghana since February 2020 and is the proprietor of Africa Cross-Culture, a tourist firm that specializes in organizing excursions to Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda.

Following his installation, the chief addressed the media, urging black Americans to come home and assist rebuild the communities from which they came.

There is no finer sensation than resting and waking up in a location where you are always welcome, according to him.  "Here, there are more opportunities. In America, we have to cope with police brutality, environmental injustice, and a slew of other unpleasant conditions. However, you have the opportunity to be free in Ghana. You have financial independence here. You wake up every day in America simply being a guy, not a black man. "My sisters wake up every day in America as women, not black women," he said.

He urged African-Americans and people of the diaspora to return to their homelands, particularly Ghana.  "Infrastructure and scholarships are two areas where I'd want to concentrate my efforts." For example, Iture serves as a gateway to Elmina. You can't go to Elmina's stored dungeons without traveling through Iture if you're coming from Accra. "There is a need to develop the area and make it more appealing," he stated.

Mr. Rashad urged Ghana's government to continue investing in the tourist sector, citing its immense potential.

He took the pledge of loyalty to Nana Kojo Conduah, the Omanhen of the Edina traditional territory, and was subjected to a series of traditional ceremonies and performances.
