The Keta Police Department has detained two people in connection with the suspected diversion of premix gasoline intended for Keta fishermen in the Volta Region.

On Tuesday morning in the Keta Municipality, a driver and the Secretary of the Nukpesekope Landing Beach Committee, Jeoffrey James Ocloo, were pulled up.

The two are presently assisting police investigators in their efforts to solve the crime.

A Goodness Energy gasoline tanker with the registration number GT 5422 Z was noticed parked at the Nukpesekope premix fuel depot on Tuesday morning, according to Augustine Ocloo, a resident of Keta.

He stated the driver, on the other hand, drove away without dumping any fuel, raising locals' suspicions of a possible diversion.  "We dispatched a vehicle to keep an eye on the tanker. Surprisingly, the waybill was signed by the Nukpesekope Landing Beach Committee Secretary, Jeoffrey James Ocloo, who is connected to the MCE. He said, "The Chief fisherman, who is unwell and bedridden, got his half signed as well."

"We kept an eye on the tanker, which came to a halt at Afiadenyigba intersection, then went to Avalavi and finally to Abor. As a result, we came to the conclusion that the fuel had been diverted, and we notified the cops, who detained the driver."

"The driver then phoned suspect Jeoffrey James Ocloo, who arrived at the site and said 'the matter should be handled now,' but I disagreed to his offer and stated we needed to find out where the gasoline was transferred," he said.  Following that, Jeoffery and the driver were both arrested and taken to the Keta Police Station, where they were both detained.

The Goodness Energy tanker is also parked at the Keta Divisional Police Command's headquarters.

When Joy News called the Keta Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt Leonard Abakah, he declined to comment on the matter, stating that he had just gotten the docket and would need time to read it before speaking to the media.
