Memphis Abdul Rasheed, a 25-year-old Senior High School (SHS) graduate who left school as a heroin addict, has been sentenced to prison for harassing and robbing unsuspecting people.
He admitted to employing a knife in his robberies, which was his major vocation, to Crime Check TV GH.
Rasheed said that his school parent, who was a drug dealer and also an addict, introduced him to pot smoking when he was in school. He admitted to being hooked to smoking and missing classes as a result.
He said that one day during class, his instructor saw him sleeping in the dormitory after heavy smoking and drinking weed [marijuana] tea.
His smoking attitude was reported to his parents by the concerned instructor. The now-free criminal claimed his parents begged him to leave on multiple occasions, but he ignored their advice and now regrets his conduct.
"My school father sold cannabis in the jungle where we had everything, even utensils and cooking burners, so we cooked and ate there after smoking." My high school principal could smoke five rolls of the stuff, although I only took three. My parents threatened to abandon me unless I quit smoking, but I was addicted and refused to listen to them," he stated.
When Rasheed met some buddies in Kumasi, Ghana's Ashanti Region, he progressed from smoking to sniffing cocaine and consuming other drugs such as tramadol and 'D-10,' he added. "I joined a group and we committed knife robberies. We don't care if you're in a crowd; we'll threaten you with a knife and take anything we can from our victims. We can make roughly 2,000 Ghana cedis in a night. "The most money we ever made in a day was 5,000 Ghana cedis," he claimed.
"We return to the ghetto after a day of theft and handover the stolen stuff to the gang boss, who will give us our part." Normally, we do not show all of the goods. He went on to say, "We save some for ourselves."
Rasheed, who had a large scar on his hand, claimed that when they were confronted, his ghetto superior nearly chopped off his hand.
