Beach Soccer Clubs in Ghana To Begin preparing for your first FA Cup after receiving approval from the GFA.
The President and General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association met with the Chairman of Ghana Beach Soccer to discuss the road map that would lead to the start of full Beach Soccer operations in Ghana.
Since the imposition of Covid-19 restrictions almost two years ago, Ghana has not seen major local or international competition in what is considered the most exciting sport on sand.
Ghana Beach Soccer is likely to rebound in the coming weeks, thanks to the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions and the reopening of beaches around the country.
GFA President Kurt Okraku, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq., and Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah (Chairman of both the Beach Soccer domestic competitions Committee and the Beach Soccer National Team Committee) discussed the modalities for the commencement of competitive Beach Soccer, its development, and promotion in Ghana following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions on sports.
Due to the amount of time wasted, the meeting determined that just the Ghana Beach Soccer FA Cup would be contested to complete the 2021/22 season, which ends on June 30, 2022.
In the 2022/2023 season, however, the Association will prepare for both the Beach Soccer league and the Beach Soccer FA Cup (July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023).
In order to prepare for future tasks, the Beach Soccer national squad will be rebuilt as well.
Davies Olenu, Chairman of the Greater Accra Beach Soccer Clubs Union, and Greater Accra Regional Football Association Chairman Samuel Aboabire, GFA Chief of Staff Michael Osekere, and GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum were also in attendance.
Apart from a series of preliminary meetings, the GFA will also supply beach soccer balls and other technical and logistical support for clubs, according to Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq.
The Beach Soccer Premier League currently has 16 clubs, with the rest set to compete in the Division One Beach Soccer League in various regions across the country.
