Crystal Palace are apparently interested in re-signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been linked with a move away from Manchester United due to rumors that he isn't in Erik ten Hag's plans.
Since leaving Selhurst Park for Old Trafford in June 2019, the £50 million signing has struggled to make an impact. Despite the fact that Wan-Bissaka has made 126 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, Diogo Dalot has been favored at right-back this season.
Ten Hag was just named United's new manager, and he is rumored to have put five players on the market. The roster also includes Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, and Anthony Martial, in addition to Wan-Bissaka. Sevilla has him on loan at the moment.
After a breakout 2018-19 season at Palace, Wan-Bissaka had high expectations. In August 2019, he was voted the club's Player of the Year and was called up to Gareth Southgate's England team, however he had to withdraw due to a back injury.
Palace are ready to complete a deal, according to The Athletic, although it is still early days. Manager Patrick Vieira is thought to desire to upgrade the right-back position, with Nathan Ferguson just seeing eight minutes of senior football this season owing to injury.
For the majority of the season, Vieira has had to rely on veterans Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward. At left-back, though, Tyrick Mitchell, a 22-year-old academy graduate, has impressed, earning his first two senior England caps.
Palace are unlikely to repay the £50 million they spent for Wan-Bissaka three years ago, therefore a loan deal is probable. Transfermarkt values him at £27 million, and he has two years left on his current contract, with the option of a third year.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's signing of Wan-Bissaka has been criticized for not providing enough quality in the future. In 131 Premier League appearances, he has only 11 assists. Trent Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, has 12 assists this season.
In September, former Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson observed, "Now Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a very talented defender, but he will not get you seven or eight assists a season." This season, Wan-Bissaka has not produced a single assist in the Premier League.
