Liverpool's standing as one of the strongest teams in European football is a big draw for players, so what could the team look like in two year's time?

The good times are certainly here for Liverpool supporters right now. Carabao Cup winners, FA Cup finalists, a point off the top of the Premier League and just 90 minutes away from another Champions League final appearance.

After a season blighted with injuries last time out, it seems that Jurgen Klopp can do no wrong this campaign, as the quest for the improbable quadruple continues. Such success will only attract more interest from the best players across Europe, with many fancying a slice of the action as the Anfield juggernaut roles on.

And supporters have been given a further boost with the news that the club is trying to persuade the already legendary German manager to sign new deal, committing his long-term future to club.

Indeed, reports have since indicated that Klopp has signed the deal and confirmation is soon due from the club.

With a new contract very much in mind, here's a speculative look at how the Liverpool XI could shape up by the start of the 2024/25 season.

Goalkeeper - Alisson Becker

One position certainly not under threat is that of the Reds' Brazilian goalkeeper. Alisson has enjoyed another superb season for Liverpool, keeping 19 clean sheets in 31 Premier League appearances. The only thing missing this season has been a goal at the opposite end. There's still time.

Defence - Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

In a season that has seen Liverpool concede just 22 Premier League goals, massive re-engineering of the Red rear guard is not a priority for Jurgen Klopp. That said, after finding himself without a fit centre-back at one point last season, reinforcements are important.

Joel Matip has arguably been enjoying his finest season in a red shirt, but his younger deputy Ibrahima Konate has shown in the Champions League that he is a force to be reckoned with and if Virgil van Dijk and Matip are Liverpool's present then he is surely their future.

Midfield - Harvey Elliott, Fabinho, Thiago, Jude Bellingham

Midfield is one area where Klopp may look to make some subtle changes and start planning for the future, but this season has shown that he already has a couple of players who can still be key to Liverpool's future success. Fabinho is now cemented as the lynchpin of the Anfield engine room, while after somewhat of a slow start Thiago is now showing why he is one of the most decorated midfielders in European football.

Harvey Elliott has already made a huge impression on supporters, capped by a brilliant goal against Cardiff City in the FA Cup this season, and by the time 2024 comes around, he could be the man to provide the creativity that the team craves. Liverpool's on-going flirtation with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has got to end somewhere, and god-willing, that will be in a red shirt at Anfield. A mouth-watering prospect. Klopp may not often play all four at once, but variety is the spice of life.

Attack - Mohamed Salah, Fabio Carvalho, Luis Diaz

Until the arrival of Diogo Jota, followed by Luiz Diaz, the Reds' front three seemed pretty much unchangeable, but as Echo and the Bunnymen once said, nothing ever lasts forever. One switch in particular that appears to already be nailed on is Fulham's Fabio Carvalho. The 19-year-old came close to joining Klopp's side on transfer deadline day, but the ECHO understands that the Portuguese attacker is merely weeks away from confirming a move to Merseyside following Fulham's promotion back to the Premier League.

Klopp has worked hard to turn doubters into believers and for that reason, we're staying confident that Mohamed Salah will sign a new contract and continue his Anfield heroics for a few seasons more. But in doing so, he will have to live with the undeniable talent of Colombian Diaz, who has already taken the Premier League by storm. Just imagine what he could be capable of by 2024? Frightening.
