BAWKU DIARIES
Bawku is certainly one of best towns you can reside in Northern Ghana. Ask why?
I tell you, it has the least living condition in Ghana. Currently sachet water is sold around Ghc 0.30 per one, countywide but Bawku is different. In my recent visit, I bought 4 sachet water for Ghc 0.50. You heard me right, that's what happened. On the regular, sachet water is still Ghc0.20 per one in Bawku.
Now let's talk about food. You can get food, meat and everything to your satisfaction at Ghc3 only. I had my super from Hajia Mariam (Matan Chairman) close to imperial station and thought the woman was giving it to me for free until I saw others buying at the same quantity. That's not the only place, Hawa "Believer" sorts the area guys in the same way. With four Ghana cedis you'll get rice and fish to your satisfaction. At Sabongari, close to the OA terminal a similar joint is there. Before you get there, Hajia Woyome might be your stop at the Woyome junction. I remember the Justice restaurant too. Let's not forget about Azanga because that's where my favourites are. At highways, Sakina restaurant is always available with fufu, banku etc all at the affordability of the average man. Level 400 foods is another modern vendor where I get my fried rice.
Now Rent: We pay for store around Ghc60.00 per month. Rooms vary from type of structure to location but, I bet you, people still pay Ghc15 per month. You don't also see abusive landlords on the regular.
Socialization: The people are sociable and receptive. The average Bawku resident love strangers even more than indigents.
THE DISADVANTAGE: UGLY CONFLICT
The only evil that has colonised the area is the aimless conflict. The sad reality is that the people are intermarried, closely related and business related but when it comes to the conflict's interest, they pour everything into the drain.
CAUSES OF THE CONFLICT
(1) Greed
(2) Selfish interest
(3) Archaic Mentality
(4) Misconception
(5) Misconduct of social media users
SOLUTION
(1) Political will
(2) Religious and moral will
(3) Brave and impartial enforcement of the law.
