Jurgen Klopp has given Liverpool a significant boost by signing a new deal that would keep him at the club until 2026.

As the Reds' coaching staff prepares for another four years at the club, assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz have also signed similar contracts.

Klopp, who took over as Liverpool manager in October 2015 after a brief hiatus after seven years in charge of Borussia Dortmund, was widely expected to leave when his contract expired in the summer of 2024.However, Liverpool's quest for an unprecedented quadruple has re-energized the German in recent months, with his team having already won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final, being in a strong position in their Champions League semi-final, and challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title. And the Reds manager has chosen that now is the ideal time to reconfirm his commitment to a club that he has already led to one Champions League victory, a first-ever FIFA Club World Cup victory, and the end of a 30-year title drought.

Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool, were pleased with Klopp's efforts and wanted him to stay. Mike Gordon, FSG's president and a key figure in the club's management, was seen sitting alongside Klopp's agent Mark Kosicke during Wednesday's Champions League semi-final match against Villarreal.Gordon was instrumental in negotiating Klopp's latest contract extension in December 2019 and has now played a vital role in the Reds boss signing a new deal, with FSG acting quickly when Klopp informed them of his wish to extend his time at Anfield.

Both Lijnders and Krawietz's contracts were slated to expire in just over two years, just like Klopp's. Lijnders joined Brendan Rodgers' coaching team when he first arrived at Liverpool in 2014, and he returned to the Reds in 2018 following six months in command of NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands. After previously working with Klopp at Mainz and Dortmund, Krawietz joined him at Anfield in 2015.Liverpool will now focus on contract negotiations with a number of players who are reaching the end of their contracts, the most noteworthy of which being Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian has made it clear that he wants to stay at Anfield and has stated that it is now up to the club to negotiate an arrangement.
