Ghanaians have taken to social media to criticize Mohammed Muntari's decision to play international matches for Qatar rather than the Black Stars.
The 28-year-old attacker was born in Kumasi but migrated to the Gulf country as a child, causing him to change his nationality and play for his adopted homeland.Muntari, who plays for Al Duhail in the Qatar Stars League, will make his World Cup debut for the Maroons when they host the competition from November to December .
Ironically, Ghana, the country he left out, will compete after defeating Nigeria in the play-offs.
Muntari stated why he chose Qatar in a recent interview: "To tell you the truth, if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Qatar." Because of what they did for me and what they are doing for my people, I would choose Qatar every day.
