Jose Mourinho has predicted that when Roma plays in front of 70,000 fans at the Stadio Olimpico, they would be a completely different team.Following a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium, City and Liverpool will travel to Rome next week to play in the Europa Conference League semi-finals. Roma may believe they have an advantage because they are playing the second leg at home.
While Mourinho believes that the stadium in which City plays has little bearing on their performance, he believes that playing in the Olimpico will bring out a different side of his Roma team. For the game, the stadium sold out in less than an hour, and Mourinho predicts that 300,000 seats might be filled.
"The second leg will be a final in Rome," he explained. That is our point of view. We haven't considered Albania or the final. That is our opinion. I'm not implying that it will be straightforward. For a team like Leicester, whether they play at home or away makes little difference. However, it is significant to us. No way. They are what the Premier League represents in terms of maturity, class, and experience. However, playing at home with our 70,000 fans makes a difference for us. Let's take a chance.
"It was a tough game." We played our style of football in the first half. We played as they wanted us to play in the second half. That is commendable. We accept the outcome. It's just and reasonable. The final will be held in Rome for the second leg."I understand that the stadium is insufficient for the Romanistas' feelings. It would be 300,000 people if the stadium had 300,000 people. It will be magnificent since the stadium will be packed."
Mourinho felt his team did not play well enough on the ball on the night to exploit the openings left by City's assaults when they failed. City was able to apply pressure and equalize as a result of this.
"We gave the ball away too easy," Mourinho stated. They're a potent offensive force. They're a high-priced outfit. When they lose control, though, they are a squad that creates space, which we didn't take advantage of because we were losing so many balls. We didn't even have time to push the lines up in the second half because we were losing balls. We couldn't leave because we had to stay. It's possible that we'll win 1-0. I don't recall Rui (Patricio) coming up with a spectacular save. However, a goal is possible when the opponent has the ball so much in our half. "As a result, the outcome is reasonable."
