A Ghanaian referee has recounted the pressure he received from unnamed officials of the Ghana Football Association to officiate in favour of Accra-based Hearts of Oak.

The Ghana Football Association has come under a barrage of attacks and severe criticism for allegations of match manipulations.

After Tiger Eye PI investigative journalist's documentary that exposed the rot  in Ghanaian football and game manipulations in the Ghana Premier league, football lovers thought manipulation of matches will have been a thing of the past.

A Ghanaian Premier league referee has recounted how he was forced to officiate against Central Region based Elmina Sharks in an FA Cup semi-final match against Accra-based Hearts of Oak.

Stephen Nsor according to an interview with a Wenchi-based radio made a strong decision to call it a quit for his refereeing profession following constant pressure from some officials of the football management body to manipulate games in their favour and not for fair play.

Retired Ghanaian referee, Stephen Nsor made a very revealing claim that he was coerced to manipulate Premier league and other games. He was appointed to officiate the FA Cup semi-final clash between Elmina based Sharks and Accra-based Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in the capital of Ghana in 2017.

Prior to the game, Stephen Nsor claims some unnamed members of the Ghana Football Association allegedly called him to officiate in favour of Hearts of Oak to defeat Elmina Sharks in order to face the porcupine warriors of Kumasi in the final.

Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Elmina Sharks as per the demands of the unnamed official in a 2-0 victory as a result of his biased officiating.

"I went for Accra Hearts of Oak and Elmina Sharks game some years back, he said.

It was an FA Cup match aroun somewhere in 2017. Before the game, some officials and gurus at the football management body influenced the match - some are still there. They forced us to let Hearts of Oak win so that they can meet Asante Kotoko in the final. I'm telling you, just to let Hearts of Oak win and it was played in Accra".

His comment comes at the back of match fixing allegations which has started flying around. A referee has been suspended from officiating for the rest of the season for terrible decisions by the match review committee.

It will be recalled that Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the Tiger Eye PI investigative team released the Number 12 documentary which revealed Ghanaian football officials engaged in corruption and match fixing. Football activities were suspended with the Ghana Football Association dissolved.

A normalization committee was put in place to oversee the supervision of the football activities until an election which saw Kurt Okraku emerged winner was held.
