Andreas Christensen, Mateo Kovacic, and Ross Barkley have all returned to training ahead of Sunday's match against Everton, giving Chelsea a potential boost.Since suffering an ankle ligament injury in the FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace, Kovacic has been ruled out for Chelsea. Midway through the first half, he was substituted.
Andreas Christensen, meanwhile, was forced to withdraw from the starting lineup against West Ham United due to stomach problems, and therefore missed the club's midweek trip to Old Trafford.
Ross Barkley was also unable to play against Manchester United owing to illness. The trio has returned to training, and it is unclear whether they will be fit to play the Toffees.Manager Thomas Tuchel stated in his post-match press conference at United that he was concerned about the trio, particularly Kovacic, who had yet to return to team training.
With Kovacic's participation in Friday's practice, however, the situation has shifted. Along with Christensen and Barkley, he could be called up to the matchday squad.
Chelsea is in a good position to qualify for the Champions League. They lead Arsenal, who are in fourth place, by six points, and Tottenham, who are in fifth place, by eight points.
A further eight points would guarantee their position in the Champions League for the following season. With a win at Goodison Park, they have a chance to cut the gap, but it won't be easy.In recent visits to the stadium, Chelsea has struggled. They've dropped their last three games at Goodison Park. Everton, who are fighting for their lives, will not make it easy for them.
Tuchel could ponder a few lineup adjustments. Kai Havertz has recently squandered a couple clear-cut opportunities.
