HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY DEMAND A SALARY INCREMENT FROM YOUR BOSS WITH A SIMPLE LETTER

Where do I even begin? Do I start with the countless number of people who contact me daily with Lamentations of how very little they earn or with those who never seem to know their worth? Do I write a book on employer-employee relationship or must I just go straight to the topic at hand?Well I believe you'd love to know how to demand a raise  from your boss without having to be bored with the uncomfortable details of the sufferings of today's employees (of which you are an integral part).

To satisfy your thirst for information therefore, I have scripted a three hundred word letter which can serve as an example or a guide when writing to your boss for a raise.

Enjoy and learn.

Dear Sir,

I wish to express my untainted gratitude for the confidence put in me for the past six months and I must confess that I feel honored to have worked with a man of your understanding and zeal. However, it is imperative that we keep our relationship favorable for all parties hence the decision to write this letter. During my contract negotiations, I understood that the company could not make a better offer than what was on the table due to a variety of reasons. One of these reasons if I am correct, is the fact that the company was yet to ascertain whether or not I am capable of executing the job perfectly.

You will agree with me that I had to take about a 50% pay cut to join the company. Since joining the company however, I believe that I have proven to be a professional at what I do and also an asset. It is no secret that the human resources I inherited were almost unmanageable. With determination and utmost care however, the team I am entrusted with, is almost among the most elite teams this country can boast of today.

Sir, In representing the company positively and maintaining positive relationships with the company’s clients that I have worked or work with, I believe I have done that to utmost perfection.

Despite your suggestion during our initial contract discussion that I come back to the negotiation table after a month of work, I thought it better to wait for the maximum six (6) months of probation to elapse before requesting a sit-down with management. With the elapsing of the six moths therefore, it has become imperative to write to formally request the company’s position on my contract and the related remunerations.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Regards,
