Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information, has praised Ghana Exim Bank for assisting Ghanaian firms in packaging and exporting their products to new markets.
The bank and the Ghana export promotion agency, he says, should be commended for their ongoing efforts to promote Ghanaian products on both domestic and international markets.
The Minister made the remarks today, April 26th, 2022, during the reopening of the bank's Made-in-Ghana event, nicknamed "Tuesday Market.
The Tuesday Market is a fair hosted by Eximbank to highlight firms who have been helped by Bank facilities to increase their production, packaging, and export potential.
"At a time when the World Bank is warning of a potential global food security catastrophe, Ghana is in a great position to enhance production of food value chain goods, packaging, and exports."
"It's heartening to see so many young individuals, especially young women, entering the agricultural processing value chain." I'm also pleased by the demographics of the people I'm meeting today. I see a lot of people who have previously been classified as blue-collar workers investing in enterprises in this value chain. The profits are bigger than normal." Mr. Nkrumah said
Tuesday Market Information - what we need to know
Tuesday Market is a platform developed by Ghana Exim Bank to display the products of its clients and makers of Made-in-Ghana items. It also acts as a one-stop store for the general public to buy everything locally made, including neatly packaged food, cosmetics, clothing and textiles, leather goods, and more.
It is part of the government's aim to provide major help to the private sector and other state entities with export/import activities.
The Minister urged young entrepreneurs involved in the export of goods and services to take advantage of the assistance plan in order to get a competitive edge in the Ghanaian export market.
