UEW 26 Graduation: How Women Sweep 82 of 101 First Class Prizes

At the 26th session of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) which matured on Saturday, women showed the men their class and pushed them aside by sweeping 82 of the 101 first-class prizes. They left 19-year-old men.
A total of 10,314 total graduates including 2,575 diplomats of 6,887 undergraduates and 852 masters and doctoral degrees at five-day church events.
The University received 9,462 degrees and graduates.
They are made up of 3,684 males representing 38.93 percent and 5,778 females representing 61.07 percent.
Of the 1,001 awards of excellence, 660 were for women and 341 for men.
Also, out of the 2,383 juniors they rewarded 1,583 women with 803 males and the third category had 1,522 females and 989 males. 890 passed with 353 males and 538 females.
UEW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke commended the women for the positive step they described as great.
He urged the graduates to use their degrees to change their lives and the world for the better.
He noted that although they were graduating during a difficult time of unemployment, he hoped that they would be trained to explore the world and take advantage of opportunities to impact their lives.
He urged them to strive for honesty and integrity and to use their critical thinking abilities to achieve their goals.
Reconciliation
Commenting on recent developments at the university, which led to his reinstatement Prof Avoke said the governing body had established a policing and reconciliation commission as part of the roadmap towards peace.
He said the commission would accept applications and complaints and make the necessary recommendations for the university to succeed and assured him that it would support efforts to promote a spirit of peace and harmony at the university, adding that he believed the university should work for inclusiveness. it is the resources of the people to move the university forward.
Professor Avoke expressed his gratitude to all those who worked to ensure the reinstatement of the affected officials and said that his administration was determined to continue where the previous administration had left off to build a stronger university together.
Nana Ofori Ansah
In her speech, the chair of the university's governing body, Nana Ofori Ansah, expressed concern that some of the old-fashioned anti-riot agents were working to disrupt the peace process.
"Unfortunately some of the demolitionists are alleged to be university administrators who have vowed not to accept the decision and orders of the High Court, Winneba, and have decided not to cooperate with their reinstated colleagues."
"It is believed that some of these vandals are using people who are trying to challenge the decision of the High Court, Winneba in the High Court describing these measures as unfortunate," he said.
Peace against evil
"It is my humble prayer and urges that these people see the reason for working together for the benefit of this university, and no matter how long it takes for peace and harmony to overcome separation from evil and Christ in the ark, UEW will smile."
He said he hoped that with the education they received they were equipped to make a positive impact on the world and urged them to use the knowledge they gained to make the world a better place.
Add hard work and honesty
He urged the graduates to combine hard work and honesty to achieve success.
He pointed out that without hard work and standards of honesty and integrity, paper qualities would not be in vain.
He said they were the ones who should be successful in their future and that they should get degrees which is a good thing that many have not yet achieved and they should be willing to work to make these degrees have a positive impact on their lives.
"Your future is in your hands so you cannot blame anyone from now on if you let others decide your future," he added.
He urged them to resist the temptation to get rich quickly but to seek out his advisers who would lead the way and become honest ambassadors for the university.
