Arsenal technical director Edu is keen to negotiate a deal which would bring Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Gunners currently find themselves inside the Premier League’s top four and it appears boss Mikel Arteta is already working with the key decision-makers behind the scenes to identify targets ahead of the summer window.
What’s the latest news involving Jesus?
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are exploring the possibility of signing Jesus ahead of next season.
The report suggests discussions between Edu and the 54-cap Brazil international’s representatives have been taking place for a number of months and Jesus is thought to be open to the prospect of heading to north London.
Arsenal’s hopes of luring the 25-year-old away from the Etihad Stadium have been boosted by the fact he is about to enter the final 12 months of his £91,000-per-week contract.
Also, Jesus has refused to commit his future to Manchester City beyond the end of the current campaign as he is eager to enjoy more game-time than he is currently offered under Pep Guardiola.
Less than 24 hours after links to Arsenal surfaced, Jesus scored four goals in a comfortable win over Watford and was described as having ‘incredible ability’ by Guardiola. What has Dean Jones said about Jesus?
Jones understands that Edu is playing a key role in attempting to secure Jesus’ services and is keen to come to an agreement with Manchester City.
The transfer insider also believes there is a strong possibility that a deal could be struck in the summer.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Yes, there is interest in him. Yes, there are people involved in that deal who have obvious links to making something like that happen.
“Edu is certainly open to Gabriel Jesus coming into Arsenal.”

Why is Jesus of interest to Arsenal?
As things stand, Arteta is going to be left with no strikers by the end of June as Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s respective contracts are due to expire.
Jesus is someone who could certainly come in and make the position his own, emphasised by the fact he has already scored 115 goals over the course of his club career.
Arsenal are also looking to return to their former glory days and silverware is something Jesus is used to winning having clinched 10 trophies since joining Manchester City in a £27million deal from Palmeiras.
