Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayiribi constituency in the Eastern Region and Minister responsible for information, Kojo Opppong Nkrumah has made some shocking revelations about politics.
The firebrand young promising lawyer and politician made those surprising revelations at a forum where many young aspiring politicians were heard shouting and giggling about his comments.
Speaking at the lunch of a book by a former deputy minister, Kojo Opppong Nkrumah without mincing words stated that politicians don't have the interest of the masses at heart but rather they care about themselves alone.
"In politics, you have to understand the following, Nobody has your interest, everybody is chasing their interest, dealing with politicians is like sleeping with tigers, you must always have your eyes open.
He added that in any political certain, there are people being used to achieve the interest of political goons. "In any political equation, there is always someone being used, if you look around and you can't find that person then it is you. Serving politicians is like a bandage on a wound, once the wound heals, your usefulness ends".
He advised the audience who were interested in doing politics to be wary of who they associate with and not go all out for political godfathers to the extent of making enemies because political actors at the top will always be friends.
" In politics, never wail more than the bereaved, they will get the reward while you inherit their enemies. In politics, in any event if other interest conflicts with yours and thers is a choice to be made, always choose your interest. Never cross oceans for politicians, you may drown".
Kojo Opppong Nkrumah was a journalist with the Multimedia Group Limited, a lawyer and a businessman.
He contested the 2015 parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party and won. He subsequently won the 2016 parliamentary elections of the Ofoase-Ayiribi constituency and was appointed a deputy minister of information.
He was appointed a substantive minister of information and won the 2020 Parliamentary elections and was reappointed by President Akufo-Addo.
