According to sources, Real Madrid has been put off by Monaco's £60 million asking price for midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, leaving Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool to compete for his signing.

After exploding onto the scene with the Ligue 1 side in 2019, Tchouameni has established himself as one of Europe's most wanted young talents, playing 47 times this season.

His contributions in the middle of the park have guided Monaco to reach fourth place in the French top division, and his team still has a chance to finish third and qualify for the Champions League with three games left against Rennes.

Madrid has previously signed Eduardo Camavinga, a bright French talent, and they have been heavily associated with Tchouameni in recent months, but a deal has apparently fallen through. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Carlo Ancelotti's men have baulked at Monaco's £60 million estimate for the midfielder and have reportedly walked away from the negotiating table.

The Italian manager has been hunting for a successor to Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, but their enthusiasm has cooled when Monaco rebuffed them with a £60 million asking price, believing that £60 million should be reserved for a striker, not a midfielder.

Tchouameni has performed admirably for France in recent international matches, and Madrid's withdrawal might leave Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea in a bidding battle for his services.

The Spanish giants were the frontrunners to recruit him after Tchouameni told the club that they were his top choice, according to the report.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, and PSG are among the other teams actively interested in the player, with the door now open for them to swoop while Madrid considers alternative possibilities.

The player has also been linked with a move to Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp is a major fan of the Frenchman, according to Sportsmail, and the Reds are considering making a move for him. Tchouameni has appeared in 92 games for Monaco, scoring six goals in the process. He has eight caps for France, which he helped win the Nations League last year, thanks to his maturity on the ball and tough performances.
