Ghana Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo hopes to tow the path of legendary Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan.

Ghana newbie Antoine Semenyo names former Sunderland and Ghana Black Stars forward, Asamoah Gyan as the one he hopes to emulate by scoring goals as he awaits a call up to the the national team.
The British-born Ghanaian striker is set to receive his first national team call-up ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations(AFCON) qualifiers later this month and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Antoine Semenyo has netted the ball twenty(20) times for his team Bristol City in the England championship this season providing 12 assists and scoring 8 goals.
The 22-year-old forward states he wants to emulate Ghanaian legendary striker Asamoah Gyan as he anticipates a national team call-up. Semenyo was rumoured to have been named in Black Stars interim Coach Otto Addo provisional squad against the Sup Eagles of Nigeria in the double-leg World Cup qualifiers in March.
He failed to join the national team due to an injury that ruled him out of the qualifying game for the Black Stars which ended in an all-draw game both in Kumasi and Abuja.
Even though the young player reveals he is inspired by football legends like Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba, his greatest aspiration is to score for the Black Stars like Asamoah Gyan.
Speaking on Accra-based Happy FM, the British born Ghanaian striker emphasized that he wants to be like former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan.
"I would say Asamoah Gyan. As a young boy watching team Ghana in various tournaments, he was obviously the person everyone would look up to", he answered.
Semenyo has been phenomenal since his return from injury for the England championship team Bristol City assisting, setting up and scoring a goal in their heavy win over the weekend against Hull City.
He has 8 goals to his name this season and has provided 12 assists for Bristol City in all tournaments.
Ghanaians and football enthusiasts are optimistic of his phenomenal performance when he joins the Stars for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers later this month and other matches.
Antoine Semenyo and other foreign based Ghanaian strikers such as Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah and Ansgar Knauff who are being pursued by officials of the Ghana Football Association will be an addition to the team.
The Black Stars of Ghana will play against Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers later this month.
