Asamoah Gyan Launches book titled "LEGYANDARY".
Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has been named Ghana's World Cup Ambassador by the government of Ghana.
Legendary former Black Stars Captain and ex-Sunderland forward, Asamoah Gyan has named Ghana's ambassador for the 2022 FIFA World Cup expected to be held in Qatar later this year.
The former Ghanaian captain was handed the mandate by the government during the launch of his maiden book titled "LEGYANDARY" in Accra last weekend which chronicles the life, professional career and other stuff of the football legend.
Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana from 2013-2020, Asamoah Gyan launched his book in Accra. Present at the event were the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, ministers, Members of Parliament, Legendary footballers from across the globe, media and businessmen.
Announcing the appointment, the minister responsible for tourism, culture and creative arts, Ibrahim Awal applauded the footballer for his phenomenal role and contributions to the sports and tourism sectors of the country.
"We are conferring on you by courtesy of the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo a tourism ambassador for the country for the 2020 World Cup. We want you to be an ambassador", he said.
The minister of tourism, culture and creative arts charged the footballer to use his experience and reputation to promote Ghana at the World Cup.
"Use your experience to promote Ghana. Ghana is not only the most beautiful country in Africa, it is also the most attractive. Our sports legends, help make Ghana the most popular brand in Africa. Asamoah Gyan, we commence with you to lead the change and make Ghana a very successful brand.
Hon. Ibrahim Awal added the President launched the "beyond the return" project in 2019 which led to an increase in foreign nationals of Ghanaian decent and other nationals visiting the country that year after the "year of return".
The Black Stars of Ghana is expected to commence their World Cup campaign in November with Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea in the group stages after defeating the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an all-draw double-header game in Kumasi and Abuja.
