The Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has boldly revealed unexpected secrets about Parliament and why they are unable to hold the executive accountable. He also dropped secrets about the public purse.

While reacting to a question on the US Human Rights Ghana Report 2021, which blamed Parliament and other public institution for increasing levels of corruption in the country, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu revealed that Parliament is not able to hold the executive accountable because there is too much partisanship in the House and the country as a whole. He further reiterated that this has resulted in Parliament's failure to protect the public purse.

“We are not doing sufficiently as an institution and Parliament is bucked down to excessive partisanship. We are exercising our mandate appropriately to protect the public purse. Why will Parliament not be interested in probing COVID expenditure? Who loses? Who gains? It’s the citizens of Ghana. Any matter of probe can only enhance probity, transparency, and accountability."

"So if Parliament cannot even probe into a matter like COVID, where donors are concerned about the prudent and optimum utilization of resources they invested to combat this public health pandemic, then what do you expect of Parliament?” Hon. Haruna Iddrisu boldly revealed this in a news item monitored by Myjoyonline.
