Liverpool's Mohamed Salah said he needs to confront Real Madrid instead of Manchester City in the Champions League last as the Egyptian forward targets retribution for his group's 2018 loss by the Spanish side.
Salah left the field in tears following a weighty fall under a test by Sergio Ramos in Liverpool's 3-1 loss by Real in the last of Europe's world class club rivalry a long time back.
On Tuesday, Liverpool got a 5-2 win on total against Villarreal in their elimination round and will find who they play in the May 28 last later on Wednesday as City face Real.
"I need to play Madrid," Salah told BT Sport. "City is a really intense group, we've played against them a couple of times this season. If you were to ask me actually, I'd favor Madrid.
Inquired as to whether he needed retribution against the Spanish side, Salah said: "We lost in the last against them, so I need to play against them and ideally win it from them also."
Liverpool found themselves 2-0 down at Villarreal yet three goals in a 12-minute spell after the break assisted them with progressing to their third Champions League last in five seasons.
Salah hailed the personality of Liverpool, who are pursuing an exceptional fourfold of prizes this season.
"It was extreme in the principal half however at that point we went to the changing area, the gaffer (Jurgen Klopp) began talking and we conversed with one another too," Salah said.
"That person and character in the changing area shows that we are a top group, so that is the reason we can strike back in the wake of losing 2-0 in the primary half playing ceaselessly."
