JABEUR ADVANCES TO 1ST WTA 1000 LAST IN MADRID IN STYLE

Tunisia's Ons Jabeur moved into the principal WTA 1000 last of her vocation when she beat Russian qualifier Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-2 6-3 at the Madrid Open on Thursday.

 

Alexandrova held a 6-1 straight on record against eighth seed Jabeur however it was the Tunisian who showed pizazz and immaculate court inclusion to get the better of the qualifier.

 

"I felt like I was tired of losing against her constantly. So I came here to get my payback," Jabeur said in a post-match interview.

 

"I feel like this competition is a retribution competition, each match. I'm extremely happy with my exhibition. I realize she plays really well, so I attempted to force my mood really. I'm extremely content with the level I played with today."

 

The pair exchanged breaks the initial set however Jabeur moved forward her game to break Alexandrova at 3-2, breaking with a throw at the net.

 

Jabeur let out a shout of joy as the group got to their feet and the 27-year-old didn't think back, breaking multiple times in the match to wrap up the challenge quickly.

 

She will play either American Jessica Pegula or Swiss Jil Teichmann in Saturday's conclusive.

 

"I really trust they play for five hours and they become worn out," Jabeur said with a chuckle.

 

"I'm about to zero in on myself, it's been extreme losing a couple of finals of late. I will give my all and afterward give everything for this one."
