Rio Ferdinand reveals why Real Madrid is so dangerous after Manchester City's fightback

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that no one should 'doubt' Real Madrid after they staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals.

Rio Ferdinand praised Real Madrid's character after they came from behind to defeat Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

Riyad Mahrez's fantastic finish gave City the lead on the night, giving them a two-goal lead in the tie.

However, Madrid staged a dramatic late comeback, with Rodrygo scoring twice in three minutes to level the match on aggregate.

This gave Ancelotti's team the advantage going into extra time, and they took advantage of it  and In the 94th minute, Karim Benzema was brought down inside the box, and they were awarded a penalty. The Frenchman got back up and slotted the penalty kick into the bottom corner, sending Thibaut Courtois the wrong way.

City dominated possession and came close to equalizing through Phil Foden, whose header was saved by Courtois before Fernandinho could tap in the rebound. Pep Guardiola's men fought hard to equalize, but it wasn't enough as Madrid advanced to this month's final, where they will face Liverpool in Paris.

Despite a late comeback from Unai Emery's side, the Reds won their semi-final 5-2 on aggregate. The two teams last met in the competition's quarter-finals last season.

Ferdinand gave his assessment of Madrid's performance and how they were able to grind out the victory. He also stated that no one should 'doubt' their ability to produce results.

"You should never doubt the players in this team," he told BT Sport. We've always said that experience matters a lot in this competition, but they showed heart and desire.

"These players have been there and seen it all. "Because they have so many players on this team who have won multiple Champions Leagues, you never saw them panic during this tournament." No matter where they are or who they have, these boys trust each other, trust the manager, and this crowd has been insane."
