Many people were shocked to learn of the loss of the Heward-Mills' eldest child, but what was more worrying was how his immediate family would cope with the news.

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the Founder and General Overseer of the Lighthouse Chapel remarked in his first public statement following his son's death, "death makes nonsense of everything."

Two days after his son's death, he was lecturing on the topic "The grave is not the end."  A few days later, his wife, Episcopal Sister Adelaide Heward-Mills, gave a lengthy verse from 1 Corinthians 1:8-11 on the necessity for Christians to look beyond relying on themselves and to trust completely on God, who is capable of raising the dead to life.

While the late Dr. David Nathaniel Heward-Mills will be buried in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, a Celebration of Life ceremony was conducted in his honor at the Anagkazo Bible and Ministry Training Center's Mampong campus on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. (ABMTC).

ES Adelaide Heward-Mills, the late US-based psychiatrist's mother, characterized her son as someone who sought answers to elements of his beliefs while still holding on to his faith.

I wish I could contact you and ask you about your day, your work, your life, your friends and connections, your walk with God, your challenges, successes, ambitions, and aspirations, but it's impossible.

"My heart hurts, and a sleepy numbness pangs my senses, as though of hemlock had drunk," said John Keats, a great English poet.

As the Bible says, you are my firstborn, a duplicate of my power and majesty. 13:2 (Exodus) "All the firstborn, consecrate to me." Whatever among the people of Israel is the first to open the womb, both of man and beast, is mine." You are unique, chosen by God. I recall you from the maternity ward of the Geneva hospital in Switzerland, when you brought us all so much delight. Despite your hidden sensitivity, you were and were a jovial person. You were inspired, you had a plan for your life, and you
