Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will be rooting for Real Madrid to defeat Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Liverpool qualified for the Paris match after defeating Villarreal in the semi-finals earlier this week. Jurgen Klopp's team eventually won 5-2 on aggregate.
While Real Madrid secured their place in the May 28 game by coming from behind to stun Manchester City on Wednesday night. Carlo Ancelotti's side won despite trailing both on the night and in the tie.
Rodrygo scored twice to force extra time, canceling out Riyad Mahrez's opener, before Karim Benzema scored from the spot to seal a 6-5 win on aggregate for Los Blancos and leave City wondering what if they are in Europe for the sixth consecutive season.
On Thursday night, Mourinho's Roma advanced to the final of the Europa Conference League after defeating Leicester City. Tammy Abraham's powerful header for the home side proved decisive in Rome after the first leg ended 1-1 at King Power Stadium last week.
And, in his post-match press conference at the Stadio Olimpico, Mourinho couldn't help but mention that he will be rooting for his 'great' friend Ancelotti when the Reds face Real Madrid at the Stade de France later this month.
"If you allow me to send a message to a coach who is a friend of mine, the great Carletto, let us both go and win the Finals," he told Sky Sport Italia.
Mourinho said of his team's performance in the semi-finals, "I am so tired, I want to go home!" It's a triumph for the family. Not just on the field or on the bench, but also in the stadium.
