It began in 2003 when the world took notice of events happening in the West of London. The media was well represented, the football world was brought to a halt and the gaze of England was firmly fixed on Stamford Bridge determined not to miss any detail of history.
The takeover was completed and a new era was ushered in at Stamford Bridge; an era of uncertainty but one of hope and faith. An army was assembled and the troops were readied for an onslaught led by "The Special One". Roman was born!!! He knew the task ahead was daunting but what inspired him was greater than the task ahead; it was in his heart.
Charisma, passion and ruthlessness were unleashed. Records were shattered, new ones were set and the trophies began to pile up yet Roman was still hungry. Just like Oliver Twist, Roman wanted more and more he got. Stamford Bridge became a fortress, a venue even the bravest of hearts treaded with caution. His presence on match days was refreshing and there he stood with the team lifting trophies together and suffering heartbreaks together. If there was ever a man who embodies the values of Chelsea Football Club it was Roman Abramovich
19 years of joy, 19 years of passionate memories connected us; those who had blue in their veins. We journeyed together overcoming many hurdles and that brought us more closer, experiencing great joy that brought all blue hearts together.
The agony in Moscow didn’t break us, the heartbreak in Japan only made us stronger, The Ghost goal at Anfield was devastating and the scandal at Stamford Bridge left us wounded but the “Roman Army” was determined.
We braved on and an empire was built. Unlike the Ancient Roman Empire this was built to fight on the football field echoing our feelings and cheering the team on in good times and in terrible times.
The euphoria that greeted that Frank Lampard goal at the Reebok Stadium was enormous, that Didier Drogba goal at the Cardiff Stadium confirmed our elite status. How can we forget that Didier Drogba goal at the New Wembley? That joy in Amsterdam as Branislav Ivanovic sent a towering header in the dying minutes, that massacre in Baku, that Kai Havertz magical moment in Porto and the UAE, the heroics of Kepa in Belfast.
These are the moments that defined us and at the Centre of all these high and lows was Roman Abramovich.
Thank You for 19 incredible years. Thank You for giving us 19 major trophies and booking us a seat among the elites in Europe. Stamford Bridge will always be your Home. You are one of us; you are a Blue. Our history was redefined by you. You embodied our past, present and future. This is not a farewell because you will always be present with us. There will be chants of your name simply because you are “one of us”; the owner who became a fan.
If Roman was a colour, He will definitely be Blue
Forever in our Hearts
You are one of us
Thank You! Roman
Danke!! Roman
Gracias!!! Roman
