A speedy in and out driver yielded Friday in a country New York crash that killed the father of Nicki Minaj and was ensured a year or less in jail, dampening analysts and the hip-hop star's mother.
In state court in Extended Island's Nassau Locale, finance supervisor Charles Polevich surrendered leaving the area of the February 2021 disaster that mortally hurt Robert Maraj as he walked around a road in Mineola.
Polevich at first got away from his vehicle and looked at the hurt man on the ground, but by then drove off, didn't call 911, garaged his vehicle and covered it with a material, experts said. Polevich admitted to changing confirmation by masking the vehicle.
Maraj, 64, kicked the pail at a clinical facility the next day.
Judge Howard Sturim said Polevich would get "something like one year in jail," close by neighborhood and a suspended license. The 71-year-old is supposed to be denounced Aug. 3.
The loss' widow, Song Maraj, told journalists she was "not lively" with the organized sentence. The widow, who is suing Polevich, said seeing him in court left her shaking at the memory of her better half fighting for his life in the center.
