Pep Guardiola stated after Manchester City's 5-0 Premier League hammering of Newcastle on Sunday afternoon that Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, and John Stones will all miss the rest of the season due to injuries.

Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to three points on Sunday, as they bounced back from a dismal loss to Eddie Howe's Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium.

Raheem Sterling became City's top goalscorer in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola, scoring twice in his third consecutive Premier League start.

After Joao Cancelo's pullback from Ilkay Gundogan's chipped ball over the top, the 27-year-old headed home from close range to put the Blues ahead after less than 20 minutes.

Prior to halftime, City would extend their lead, with Aymeric Laporte blasting the ball into the net following a blunder by Martin Dubravka in the Newcastle goal.

Rodri scored a third for Guardiola's side, before late goals from Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling secured a crucial three points in City's Premier League championship defense.

Despite the celebrations at the end of the game, Guardiola announced that three Manchester City defenders will miss the rest of the season, with Nathan Ake in doubt for Wednesday's match against Wolves.

At halftime against Newcastle on Sunday, Ruben Dias was replaced by Fernandinho, who had only recently returned from an extended layoff due to a hamstring injury.

Guardiola confirmed after the game that the Portugal international is suffering from a muscle problem that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

"We'll see what happens if there are muscular issues. We have 13 and a half players, and Nathan (Ake) isn't in great shape. We are lacking in central defenders "After the victory, Manchester City manager remarked.

Guardiola later stated that none of Dias, Stones, or Walker will play any further part in City's season's remaining three games, having already dealt with the absences of England's John Stones and Kyle Walker.

"Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, and John Stones" are all out until the end of the season, according to the 51-year-old.
