After leading Real Madrid to its 35th LaLiga title and an unlikely journey to the Champions League Final, manager Carlo Ancelotti has been welcomed back into the good graces of Madridistas. In recent weeks, Ancelotti has made some key moves, including stirring comebacks against PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
Ancelotti, on the other hand, took some time to see the light. Don Carlo had enraged Madridistas with some cowardly performances, such as in the first leg against PSG, and other awful losses, the worst of which was the 4-0 loss in El Clasico.
Carlo's renewed faith in the young trio of Rodrygo Goes, Eduardo Camavinga, and Fede Valverde is one of the main reasons for the turnaround. These three players have been crucial to Real's recent success, with Fede in particular being a common denominator in the starting XI in each of Real's recent victories.
Finally, after Fede Valverde nearly led Real Madrid to a "B" team tie against Atletico Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti stated in the subsequent news conference that Fede Valverde is a "untouchable" player in the club.
Real Madrid fans have been pleading with Carlo to play Fede more frequently for months, claiming that his intensity, energy, defensive work, ball-carrying, and underappreciated shooting would benefit Real. Fede has been a regular since the second leg against PSG, contributing constantly to the team as a midfielder or right winger.
Ancelotti's resurgence is largely due to his increased trust in his young players. Rodrygo has been on fire recently, Camavinga has been in charge of both Chelsea and City's midfields, and Valverde has been Mr. Consistency.
Valverde is easy to ignore because he handles so much of the "hard work," yet he is critical to Real Madrid's success in important games. Thankfully, Ancelotti saw this before it was too late.
Real Madrid will now face Liverpool in the champions league final on May 28th
