The £63 million acquisition of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City is expected to be revealed later this week.
After City paid the release clause in his Dortmund contract, the Norwegian striker, 21, will join Pep Guardiola's side for the start of pre-season.
Last month, Sportsmail reported that City had reached an agreement with Haaland's representation, and that he will sign a five-year contract worth more than £500,000 per week, making him the Premier League's highest-paid player.
City and Dortmund have had a good working relationship, and Dortmund is expecting confirmation that the £63 million price to activate his release will be paid.
Haaland is one of the most prolific goal scorers in world football, having scored 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund over the course of two and a half years.
In recent months, he has been connected with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United, but has chosen to stay with the English champions.
Alf-Inge Haaland, his father, played three seasons for Manchester City during his playing career.
Haaland did not score in Dortmund's 3-1 win against Greuther Furth last weekend, but he did score a hat-trick in a 4-3 loss to Bochum the weekend before.
His farewell game for the club will be this Saturday's Bundesliga season finale against Hertha Berlin at home.
Dortmund has fallen behind Bayern Munich in the German title race once again, and is currently 10 points behind the 10-time winners.
He could make his City debut against Mexican side Club America on July 21 in Houston as part of the club's pre-season tour of the United States.
After the season, Haaland will represent Norway in four UEFA Nations League matches in June.
The addition of a true center striker who can consistently score goals, something Guardiola's team currently lacks, can only enhance his team.
City lost a stunning semi-final to Real Madrid in the Champions League last week, but they are on track to win their fourth Premier League crown in five seasons.
With a 5-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, they moved three points clear of title contenders Liverpool.
