Paul Pogba has made it clear to city that ,When his contract with Manchester United expires this summer, Paul Pogba is expecting to leave to else where but not to city .

With the World Cup champion due to become a free agent in July, Sportsmail exclusively revealed last week that Manchester United's rivals were interested in signing him.

However, according to The Athletic, Pogba is not willing to leave United for City since he has an offer from a another club that is a superior deal.

The 29-year-old is almost destined to leave Old Trafford when his current contract expires, with his second term at the club not going as planned after a then-world-record £89 million transfer cost in 2016.

Pogba has labored and failed to deliver.

Pogba has fought for consistency and has failed to deliver as the Red Devils have continued to underperform since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

During his second spell, the Frenchman toyed with a move to Real Madrid, but their interest has diminished as Pogba's impact at club level has waned, despite their long-standing admiration.

Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for a central midfielder to replace Fernandinho, who is set to leave when his contract expires this summer.

Pogba was on City's shortlist, but the club won't be able to make an official offer until the end of the season, whereas overseas clubs have been permitted to formally sound out a deal since January.

Jamie Redknapp, a former Liverpool player who is now a pundit, backed a Pogba-City agreement on Sunday.

On Sky Sports, he said, "It would be a great move." 'It would be one I hadn't anticipated.' You must weigh the options. He'd have a point to prove on a free transfer after receiving a lot of flak at United. I've seen a couple games between United and City when he [Guardiola] always comes over to have a conversation. He clearly admires him as a player, and there was speculation a few years back that he might have pursued him.

Whatever you think of Paul Pogba, he's a free transfer – with hefty wages, but that's not an issue for Man City – and you'd grab him in a heartbeat. He brings a lot to this club, and I believe he'd be eager to prove what he's capable of.

He lives nearby, and I think it would be a fantastic move. It'd be a bold step, but I'd love to see something like that in the Premier League. 'I believe it makes sense all around.' He'd have to be a completely different player from the United players we've seen. He'd have to play like he does for France a lot more. It seems obvious to me. He scores goals and contributes significantly to the squad.'

Jamie Carragher, a fellow analyst, disagreed, criticizing Pogba for his lack of effort on the pitch.

'I wouldn't go near him,' he declared. 'Every year, you win the league and score 95 to 100 points.' He does not put forth as much effort as the other players. If Pep can pull it out of him, there's no doubt about his ability — no one has ever questioned it.' However, when you consider City's creative talents, like as Foden and Bernardo Silva. These are the players who are great and never stop working from the first minute. That is what makes Manchester City what they are: a fantastic team with a fantastic manager. I don't doubt his ability, but he doesn't put in the necessary effort. 'When you see him in a France shirt or for Manchester United, unbelievable quality. At different times, he does unique things. But we're still debating about his best position, who can get the most out of him, six years later.'

Meanwhile, Micah Richards agreed with Redknapp and claimed Pogba would fit in well in Manchester's blue half.

Richards countered, 'He works hard.' 'He's part of a Man United team that lacks organisation. Man City's style of play allows them to win the ball high up in the air. So, when we're talking about working hard, all he has to do is run with the rest of the team for five or ten yards. They're all going together. He'd be a good fit for this group.'
